Pewaukee's government consists of 6 elected Trustees who serve at large and an elected Village President.

VILLAGE PRESIDENT:
The Village President serves a 2 year term and is elected in April of odd numbered years. A primary election is necessary if there are 3 or more candidates for Village President. The President presides over the Village Board meetings which are held on the first and third Tuesdays of each month and is chairperson of the Plan Commission meetings which are held on the second Thursday of the month.

Salary of $5,040 per year for individuals elected before April 2009
Salary of $4,036 per year for individuals elected after April 2009

TRUSTEES:
There are 6 trustees who each serve 2 year terms. Three Trustees are elected in April of every year. A primary election is necessary if there are 7 or more candidates for Trustee. The Trustees are usually appointed to one other standing committee.

Salary of $3,960 per year for Trustees elected before April 2009
Salary of $2,960 per year for Trustees elected after April 2009

A candidate for an elected position in the Village must submit nomination papers to the Village Clerk’s office in the first week of January of the election year. The exact date changes every year. Call Village Hall at (262) 691-5660 to confirm the date for a specific year. The papers must have the signatures of 20 registered Village of Pewaukee voters complete with their names and addresses.

Pewaukee Village Voice will be hosting a Town Hall Meeting on Thursday September 23rd from 7:00 to 9:00 P. M. It will be held in the Community room of the Pewaukee Public Library. Click here for a flyer.

All of the elected officials have been invited and Citizens will have an opportunity to submit written questions and receive a response. Question submission sheets will be available at the meeting or you can down load one here . The question form can also be filled out on line, saved and emailed to us at Pewaukee Village Voice..

If time permits, we will also have a citizens comments section at the end of the meeting using the same format as the one used at Village Board meetings. All citizens will have to state their name and address before speaking. Comments will be limited to 3 minutes and the elected officials will not be able to respond to any verbal questions or comments.

In order to avoid a violation of Wisconsin's open meeting law, the forum will follow the following procedure.

Written Questions
  • All questions from the audience will be submitted to the officials in writing.
  • Each question will asked of all officials who attend.
  • Officials will have 3 minutes to respond to each question.
  • The Village President will be seated first followed by the Trustees in alphabetical order
  • Question 1 will begin will the Village President and continue in alphabetical order.
  • Question 2 will begin with the first trustee in alphabetical order ending with the Village President.
  • Subsequent questions will proceed in the same manner.
    Citizen comments.
  • Elected officials will not be able to respond to any verbal questions or comments.

    The next election for Pewaukee Village Trustees will be held Tuesday, April 6th, 2010. Voting hours are from 7:00am to 8:00pm.
    There are two voting locations in the Village.
    Voters in wards 1-5 vote at Queen of Apostles School, 449 W. Wisconsin Avenue.
    Voters in wards 6-10 vote at Village Hall, 235 Hickory Street.

    Are you registered to vote in the village?

    Stop at the Village Hall, 235 Hickory St. during regular office hours to take care of this before the elections on the first Tuesday in April. You will avoid a possible long line on election day, and it gives you a chance to see the new Village Hall.

    What will you need in order to register?
  • a current driver's license with your Pewaukee address, or
  • a utility bill that indicates your Pewaukee address

    You will learn in which ward you reside and at which of the two polling places you cast your vote.

    Pewaukee Village Voice will be hosting a Candidate Forum on Wednesday March 25th from 6:30 to 8:30 P. M. It will be held in the Community room of the Pewaukee Public Library.

    The Forum is an opportunity for citizens to ask the Candidates questions about Village issues. The questions will be submitted to the Candidates in writing on submission sheets provided at the Forum. All of the candidates have been invited to attend the Candidate Forum.

    The format of the Candidate Forum will be:

  • Questions from the audience will be submitted to the Candidates in writing.
  • All Candidates who attend will be asked each question on a rotation basis .
  • Candidates will have 3 minutes to respond to each question.
  • The Candidates for Village President will be seated first in alphabetical order followed by the Candidates for Trustee in alphabetical order
  • Question 1 will begin with the first Candidate for Village President followed by the second Candidate for Village President continuing with the Candidates for Trustee in alphabetical order.
  • Question 2 will begin with the second Candidate for Village President then the Candidates for Trustee in alphabetical order and ending with the first Candidate for Village President.
  • Subsequent questions will continue with the same rotation.

    Our intent is to provide a forum where citizens have an opportunity to submit written questions to their elected officials and receive a response.

    Pewaukee Village Voice has contacted Waukesha County District Attorney Brad D. Schimel to get his opinion about the possible impact Wisconsin’s open meeting law might have on this meeting. A copy of his letter is attached.
